Party games: Killer, Shanghai, Halve It and more

Eleven darts party games for the pub, club and birthdays: which game suits your group and how scoring works in the app.

Fancy something other than the tenth 501? Under Games you'll find eleven party games. The rules are short, the rounds quick, and with a bit of luck beginners beat experienced players too.

Overview of the party games, grouped by the kind of group
  1. Several games in one evening with overall standings.
  2. The games, grouped by the kind of group they suit.

How every party game works

  1. Choose a game and read the rules under "Rules in brief".
  2. Select players and add bots if you like. Some games have options, such as the number of lives in Killer.
  3. Tap in your darts. Every game has a matching keypad: in Shanghai, for example, you only see the number of the round.
  4. At the end the app shows the placings. "Play again" starts a new round straight away.
A running game of Killer with the players' numbers and lives

  2. The keypad only shows the segments that count in this game.

The rules of the most popular games

Killer

  1. Each player gets their own number from 1 to 20, drawn at random or chosen. Every number is used only once.
  2. Hit the double of your own number to become a killer. Until then you can't hurt anyone.
  3. As a killer, every hit on an opponent's double costs them a life. Singles and trebles don't count, and the bullseye belongs to nobody.
  4. Anyone without lives is out. The last player with lives wins.

Shanghai

  1. By default you play rounds 1 to 7, or 1 to 20 in the long version. In round 1 the target is 1, in round 2 it's 2, and so on.
  2. Each player throws three darts per round. Only hits on the round number count: single once, double twice, treble three times.
  3. If you hit the single, double and treble of the round number in one visit – in any order – that's a Shanghai and you win immediately.
  4. Without a Shanghai, the player with the most points after the last round wins.

Halve It

  1. The targets come in this order: 20, 16, any double, 17, any treble, 18 and bull.
  2. Everyone starts on 0 points and throws one visit of three darts per target.
  3. Hits on the target count at full value: T20 scores 60, D16 scores 32.
  4. If no dart in the visit hits the target, your total is halved and rounded down.
  5. After the bull, the highest score wins. Tied players share the win.

Golf

  1. Every hole is a number: hole 1 is the 1, hole 2 the 2 – over 9 or 18 holes.
  2. You have up to three darts per hole. The last dart thrown counts, so you can stand after any dart.
  3. Strokes: double 1 (hole in one), treble 2, single 3, another number 4, a miss 5.
  4. The fewest strokes win. On a tie the leaders play extra holes until one of them is ahead.

The rules of all other games are on each game's page under "Rules in brief" and in more detail further down the page.

Party games don't count towards your X01 average or your practice results. So a wild game of Killer won't spoil your statistics.
